A CHS family encountered a surprising situation that eventually led to the Montgomery County police to get involved.

It all started when an unidentified teen approached Junior Daniel Ward’s home saying that he wrecked his dirt bike.  The young male then asked Ward’s mother for a ride to Urbana. Ward’s mother replied with a no and asked Daniel and his dad if they could step outside.

“He was a black male, with dreads, and he was carrying a bag which seemed very strange,” Ward said.

Ward’s dad offered a ride to the police station to which the young male responded that he would find a ride.

“He rode off in his perfectly fine dirt bike that he supposedly “crashed” and my dad contacted the police,” Ward commented

When the police arrived at the Ward’s home, they informed the family about a couple of teens stealing from the Clarksburg Outlets. The teens involved in this crime stole multiple items from three different stores. The police checked the family’s home and backyard in search for the young male that stopped by. There were no signs of him.

“Once he said that, it all added up,” Ward said.

Senior Edward Escobar said, “I was there when the kid Daniel described was there. I remember he was with a friend and they both walked to the parking lot. Nothing really seemed suspicious to me.”

There were no sightings of the other suspected teens.

Senior Corey Bullington said, “It’s crazy how people are just out here committing crimes left and right and not getting caught. What makes it more crazy is how close it was from home.”

This is still an ongoing investigation and officers are asking for help if anyone seen anything.
