Over the past few years, Clarksburg has had a very successful indoor and outdoor track teams. The team had a rocky start this year, but once they realized their potential they quickly turned it around.

“In the beginning we struggled with dedication and that showed in the early meets but as time went on people realized what we were capable of and we started meeting expectations,” senior Lily Lippert said.

Although they did well, they were unable to meet their full potential due to injuries. There were a few bright spots as people stepped up in light of the injuries, but having a fully healthy team is always something a coach wants. Lippert has suffered from injuries dating back to her sophomore year and was forced to sit out most of this season. Her hard work has not gone unnoticed as she will be running at Roanoke College in Virginia next year.

“I’m super excited to ruin in college and try new events to see what I’m capable of; I will be trying to do the heptathlon and I can’t wait,” said Lippert.

Off of the track, the team holds a strong relationship and consider each other family.

“I have made so many friends from track this year alone just from spending free time together at meets,” junior Kristine Le said.

Coach Mathias, Coach Burke and Coach Trumbull do a phenomenal job coaching and mentoring these group of athletes. They help build them up as people and athletes.

“All of my coaches have made such a difference in molding me into the person and athlete I am today, I can’t thank them enough,” said Lippert.
