After failing to meet expectations last season, the CHS girls varsity lacrosse team has a lot of motivation and determination to make positive changes heading into the 2019 season.

The team is set to bring in new players and this year they introduce many new faces to their attack and defensive line. They will have to learn to play with the returning players on the team. Both the coaches and players are already getting prepared and focused on their first games over the next couple of weeks. Head coaches Lauren Dommel and Denise Miller both have good feelings about this year ’s strong team.

“I believe that this season we will go farther than we did last year because I love the choices that Dommel made this year when I wasn’t able to be there for the tryouts,” Miller said.

New leaders are set to step up and lead the team. The team captains this year are seniors Lydia Tadesse, Cristina Vo, Megan Puig, and Jamie Fritz

“I am just excited to start with this new team. A lot of the attack and defense is new to the team this year. We are really excited.  We have gotten a lot stronger,“ Tadesse said.

The Lady Coyotes started the season 2-1 with wins against Watkins Mill and Seneca Valley and a loss against Gaithersburg.

Since most of the team is new, with the attack and defense consisting mostly of underclassmen, the returning players are eager to get out and play with them in hopes that they can make a strong playoff run.

“After all the work that we have put in during the preseason, we are just excited to see how we play as a team, “ Vo said.

Last year the Lady Coyotes tried to advance to the divisional finals but fell short. Returning players are excited to see what their new teammates can bring to the field as everyone wants to find postseason success.

“We have a lot of young girls but I feel like we can go far. We really like each other and the present leaders do a good job of motivating and keeping the team up,” Vo added.
